Lavender & Neon Shawl

120.00

This was created with an amazingly soft blend of Huacaya and Suri alpaca, dyed a lovely lavender, then woven on a triangle loom, accented with handspun art yarn. It can be worn as a shawl shrug where the art yarn gives it stability that looks like a collar. It can also be worn thrown over your shoulder or backwards as a bandanna scarf. The art yarn has splashes of silver sparkle and neon yellow, adding a touch of fun and flair.

This piece also tells a story of our discovery in Slow Clothes. The yarn is a blend between our Suri alpaca and Barnett's Creek Farm Huacaya alpaca to give it a little more fluffy, squishy feel Suri cannot provide on its own. Our friends at New Era Fiber Mill in Gallatin, Tennessee milled the yarn, then me and my daughter dyed the lavender in our kitchen. My friend from Little Patch Alpacas created the handspun that paired beautifully with the lavender, then it was woven by hand on our porch while waiting for baby alpacas to be born.
